  POEM;

  Upon ox-eyed daisies, a curse seemed struck
  every mid-summer, when I was a child.
  One by one, their petals, girls would pluck
  ‘til no stem held white blossoms in the wild.

  Thus-tortured flora, guilty of no crime,
  would stoic...
