POETRY Reading:
Who Poops Up a Tree?
There’s a neighbor dog I do not know
But for the trail he leaves.
It’s something I have never seen
A mutt who poops up trees.
A mystery, really, how it starts
A habit such as that.
I imagine that he stopped to fart
And inadvertently shat.
Is he bewildered at the sight
Of what he leaves behind?
Or does he feign nonchalance
And act like it’s “just fine!”
To put such a mark on nature
No tree would want itself.
It’s sacrilege, and immature to
Make a tree your poop shelf

Wishing it was her heart moving in rhythm
