Director Statement
'My Brother' is a poetic documentary on men’s mental health including audio testimonies of men speaking on their experiences and perspectives of the state of men’s mental health, with shots of nature, landscapes, and the daily life of a man interspersed throughout.
The film follows the interviewees’ childhood and concludes with reflections on their personal growth, whilst the visuals serve as symbols for the testimonies, dispersed throughout to complement the audio.
I hope the audience recognises the subtle and often unseen nature of emotional struggle, and how unethical societal expectations placed on men from a young age can shape identity and self-perception.
