They Came In Peace, 12min., USA
Directed by Bruce Lazrus, Robert Martens
In a seriocomic twist on the classic Alien Invasion theme, the denizens of Planet Znarg unite to fend off a colonizing team of bumbling astronauts sent by the EarthX Corporation. This 12.5 minute animated film is presented in the style of a silent film that uses inter-titles written in the fictitious language of Planet Znarg, and is accompanied by a musical score by Bruce Lazarus.
Road Called Home, 3min., USA
Directed by Johnny Mischief-Cancer
This was an animated video I created to reference touring as more of an intergalactic space journey.
Land without shores, 9min., China
Directed by Letian Chen
The short film Land Without Shores is a nine minute visual experimental narrative, fully voiced in the Minnan dialect, reflecting and preserving Fujian folk traditions. Set between Minnan and New York, the film explores themes of female identity, intergenerational memory, and a sense of spiritual belonging. Through a film like visual language, it tells the story of Vivi, a photographer born in Minnan and raised in New York, who returns to her hometown after her grandmother’s passing. Within the rituals of the funeral and the recurring imagery of the sea, she undergoes a cross temporal dialogue with herself, ultimately arriving at a quiet reconciliation.
