Kalapathor ( The Pearl of Greed), 15min.,
Directed by Saiadus Salahin Jayeem
Kalapathor is a dark, gritty tale set deep within a shadowed forest, following Afzal, a weary woodcutter haunted by illness and poverty. One night, while covertly chopping wood with his closest friend, Afzal discovers a strange, alluring black stone. Amidst a moment of reckless impulse, he swallows a pearl hidden within, believing it could be his salvation. A visceral struggle ensues as he desperately tries to expel the treasure, using raw garlic as a remedy. When he finally succeeds, he clutches the pearl with dreams of escaping his fate—but treachery is close. His friend, blinded by envy, brutally kills him to seize the treasure for himself. In a haunting final scene, the traitor is consumed by quicksand as he attempts to dispose of the body, sinking silently as a snake watches from the bank, bearing witness to the darkness within men's hearts.
