TEASER:
A bunch of friends in their early 20's embark unknowingly on a fun musical journey back in time. Based around true events the group are having fun but unsure as to what's happening or how to get back to where they belong. Everything seems to point towards a love struck Nash and a mysterious bottle of tequila that he comes into possession of. Faced with uncertainty, injustice, doubt and people wishing to do them harm, the group must band together to figure things out all while enjoying the moment and the people they meet. It's about friendship, music, being in love, working together to overcome obstacles. Having fun and living life.
SUMMARY:
TEQUILA EXPRESS follows five close friends who gather at a Chicago blues bar after Nash's father passes away. Nash reveals a dusty bottle of tequila his father inherited from Janis Joplin during the legendary 1970 Festival Express train tour — a bottle kept as a keepsake for decades. When Nash opens it and they all share a shot, the friends are propelled into a series
of unexpected time-travel adventures: first to Calgary in 1970 on the eve of Festival Express, then to San Francisco's Winterland Ballroom for The Band's Last Waltz in 1976, and finally to Chicago's Crossroads Blues Festival in 2010. Each stop brings new dangers, brushes with music history, and moments of personal revelation, particularly for Nash, who repeatedly
encounters the same mysterious woman — Keri, Stephanie, Cally, and finally Janis — all played by the same actress across different eras. When Nash is ultimately rescued from a car crash back in present-day Chicago, he finds the woman he's been unknowingly searching for all along, a paramedic who shares his love of the blues and is named Janis. The story is at its heart a love letter to music, friendship, grief, and the timeless soul of the blues.
Just like in music, so too in life, no soul, no love.
