POEM:
A stag leaps across the board run,
ditch to ditch, thorns to thorns,
muscles, music, obsidian eyes focused

compare the totality of all other beauty
to the flight of dun fur across the November
sky, a late afternoon ballet, a dance
that never ends in the mind’s open eye.

Spotted carpets, sticky floors,
Rancid odors, saggy plaster. . .
