SUB BROTHERS, 22min., USA
Directed by Sandeep Ravindranath
Two brothers from Pakistan run a sandwich shop in Chicago. Through the daily struggles of an immigrant life, they carry in their hearts a longing for the homeland that they might never return to.
Director Statement
My narratives are always informed by my own experiences. They are often sociopolitical in nature and have dealt with issues of fractured relationships, intolerance and the immigrant experience. Their role is to provide new perspectives - different ways of looking at what is mundane, at what is overlooked or ignored and to raise questions about why something must be the way it is. Drawing from my background as an audio engineer, sound design often plays a key role in the narratives.
