HELADO, 3min., UK
Directed by Jimena Larraguivel
HELADO is a short-film which reflects on how the choices we may or may not make are directly related to how truthful we are to ourselves. It does this through a clown exploration which alludes to our inner most honest feelings and emotions in contrast to our adult overthinking mind.

Get to know the filmmaker:
1. What motivated you to make this film?
Originally this was just going to be a photoshoot where I was going to play with my clown. Then the idea occurred to me. I thought of a story and organised it all in two days!
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?
About 7-8 months.
3. How would you describe your film in two words!?
Playful melancholy.
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?
Initially I thought the photos that were taken through the filming were going to be part of the film but they didn't make the final cut as the resolution wasn't right and that was a difficult call.
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?
I was so grateful and excited to hear their response. I love that most people had questions about it and they weren't 100% sure where the character is going. I always wanted it to have that mystery element to it.
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?
Probably soon after submitting this to different festivals and being selected. I started to see the potential.
7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
Probably The Sound of Music.
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?
I think for aa newbie like me this festival has been a highlight. Hearing feedback is cool and honestly so useful.
9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?
It's been super straightforward and easy.
10. What is your favorite meal?
Tacos!
11. What is next for you? A new film?
Yes, I want to do something around motherhood on my next film. But also at the moment I'm playing Frida Kahlo in a show in London.
