Get to know the filmmaker:
1. What motivated you to make this film?
I want to inspire people to go on an adventure ⛰️
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?
11months
3. How would you describe your film in two words!?
Love letter 💌
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?
Selecting the interview soundbites to use and then weaving those together into an interesting and engaging story.
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?
I cried with joy 🥲, to have an audience from the other side of the world love the film it made us feel even more excited about what we have created.
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?
10 years ago I went to my first mountain film festival. I loved watching the films, they inspired me to go on adventures. I decided then I wanted to make a film.
7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
The Alpinist by Peter Mortimer
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?
The key thing I'm looking for from festivals is to get the film out to audiences. Anyway, you can help get the film in front of people who want to watch great films.
9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?
As a first-time film-maker, it has been a bit hit and miss. It is hard to find good festivals that will promote the film and get it in front of audiences.
10. What is your favorite meal?
I love mac and cheese. My kids love it when I make it with crushed chips on top. Yummy 😋
11. What is next for you? A new film?
I recently made a short film about an adventure to Everest Base Camp https://tararuask.com/2023/12/12/everest-base-camp/
Next, I'm making a film about an adventure to climb Mt Aspiring in New Zealand, one of our highest peaks. ⛰️
