Get to know the writer:
1. What is your screenplay about?
Ultimately, I wanted to tackle the ways a success-centered society may motivate individuals to forfeit their morals out of self interest.
2. What genres does your screenplay fall under?
I would count this as a drama and psychological thriller
3. Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?
I believe the subject matter grows increasingly relevant with our generation. If made into a movie, I would extend the screenplay and put a heavy focus on Mac's corruption.
4. How would you describe this script in two words?
Looking ahead.
5. What movie have you seen the most times in your life?
I've likely seen Parasite and the Lion King the most times. Parasite was a film that sparked my passion for the medium, whereas Lion King was a childhood classic that showed me the emotional value films can hold.
6. How long have you been working on this screenplay?
I worked on this short script for a few intense weeks over the summer.
7. How many stories have you written?
I've written a few other short scripts, but have yet to complete a feature length one.
8. What is your favorite song? (Or, what song have you listened to the most times in your life?)
Currently, my favorite song is Vienna by Billy Joel. As a young and future-focused filmmaker, the song's reminder to "slow down, you crazy child" grounds me in the present moment.
9. What obstacles did you face to finish this screenplay?
The dialogue and characterization presented unique challenges. I had to create several layers of nuance and characterization in just a few pages.
10. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
This passion for writing is an extension of my passion for filmmaking and storytelling. In addition, I love cooking and visual arts; anything that involves creating something is interesting to me.
11. You entered your screenplay via FilmFreeway. What has been your experiences working with the submission platform site?
The platform allows for easy submissions and has been my go-to for submitting to festivals.
12. What influenced you to enter the festival? What were your feelings on the initial feedback you received?
This festival offered an insight unparalleled by others. The review of the work, the acting of it out, and promotion of my script really elevated the experience and showed a dedication to the submitters.
