Director Statement
The idea behind the screenplay of “The Relish” came to me several years before writing the main text. Numerous palm trees were taken out of the ground in one of the villages located in the Hormozgan Province. They had planned to plant them in various locations in Bandar Abbas, near the beach. Nevertheless, it was totally pointless as all the trees were dried out and died.
Currently, people in Iran do not pay much attention to environmental laws. We can easily watch the demise of different animal and plant species and our agriculture.
As a writer, I was always pursuing the idea of doing a project regarding the environment. One day, I saw a picture on social media. It was a photo of a bird sitting on a logged tree, which inspired the whole idea behind “Delight”. The animation includes arguments about tree logging and damaging the environment while shedding light on issues, such as hunting and the destruction of birds’ lives.
