Get to know the filmmaker:
1. What motivated you to make this film?
I take public transit a lot, especially when I first moved to Canada it was a bit intimidating as I was very unfamiliar with the transit system. It resulted in me getting lost a lot of the times and spending an even longer amount of time in transit. I started becoming aware of the effect it had on me, and the urge to reflect I got in those spaces. I wanted to make a film that helped people feel unified in that feeling.
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?
It took around 4 and a half months to be completely finished.
3. How would you describe your film in two words!?
Overwhelming and Encapsulating
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?
Filming in moving vehicles like the train and the subway was tricky, it's hard to get shots that aren't super shaky or in which people are looking at the camera, since it is a public space. But the shots turned out beautiful thanks to our amazing Director of Photography Arshia Prajapati.
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?
I was extremely happy. It's such a rewarding experience to hear the audience's opinion on the film as well as their interpretations of the themes. A highlight for me was hearing people relate to the feeling that the film is trying to encapsulate. It was very enriching for both me and the rest of the crew to hear everyones unique thoughts on the different technical aspects of the film.
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?
I realized I wanted to make films in my senior year of High School after completing the first video I ever shot for a school assignment.
7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
Pan's Labyrinth
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?
A space to meet and talk with the audience and other filmmakers selected for the festival!
9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?
It's been great, it's a well designed platform.
10. What is your favourite meal?
Im struggling to pick between Tacos and Chicken Wings
11. What is next for you? A new film?
I am currently working on co-directing a short narrative film named Alpha.
Here's our logline: Working in a cramped office on the anniversary of his brother's death, a mentally unstable young man's favorite alt-right podcast begins speaking to him directly, manifesting itself as an evil entity that attempts to lead him down a dark path.
