Get to know the filmmaker:

1. What motivated you to make this film?

During quarantine while living alone in NY, I reflected a lot on my past relationships and experiences my close friends had with dating and wanted to create a cautionary tale to help relate to people who have had similar relationships or are currently in them to make them feel less alone and show the importance of self love and knowing your worth. I wanted to depict how depleted you can feel in these types of situations and how desperate we as humans can be in order to connect- what we are willing to lose in order to feel wanted. In the film, I wanted a balance between light, quirky and visually interesting combined with an impacting cautionary message. The concept of extracting colors, especially via text, felt so powerful and the perfect way to tell this story and send the message home.

2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?

I came up with the idea at the beginning of quarantine in April 2020, I drew a storyboard and didn't end up doing anything with it until a year and a half later because I couldn't stop thinking about it, I knew it needed to be produced. Once I decided to create it the filming, editing, and post production process took 5 months, the visual effects took the longest to execute!

3. How would you describe your film in two words!?

Futuristic Fable

4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?

The visual effects! I did the visual effects on my own and in some cases I had to roto frame by frame, it was extremely time consuming and I will definitely be building a VFX team for my next one!

5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?

It was beyond rewarding that the message came across and seemed to really impact them, I felt so well understood and proud of my team. To be honest I teared up watching the reactions!

6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?

I used to make comic book strips before I could write, when I got older I started writing but got frustrated because I really wanted to build the world for the reader. I am very visual. I picked up a camera to film when I was around 11 and made episodic soap operas with my sisters and haven't stopped creating since.

7. What film have you seen the most in your life?

Jamanji and Who Framed Roger Rabbit

8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?

If there is a way to create a forum or zoom link to meet the other selected filmmakers that would be an awesome way to connect.

9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?

It's been great, really easy and straight forward!

11. What is next for you? A new film?

I am currently working on another short cautionary tale concentrating on the dangers of social media addiction. I will be using visual effects again to show how dangerous it can be in a magical realistic way.
