Get to know the writer:
1. What is your screenplay about?
Spidersilk tells the story of a tech developer whose father has recently passed away, leaving him on a quest for answers. Mark's deep engagement with quantum mechanics is part of his everyday existence, and while exploring into his abilities of interconnected dreams and distant realms, the stylishly slick Mark Kheops encounters thieving shadowy beings from a realm teetering on the brink of a black hole that poses a threat to everything and everyone he cherishes. Now, Mark must avoid being kidnapped, thwart the unknown agendas of aliens, discover Earth, and uncover the clues hidden within a video game.
2. What genres does your screenplay fall under?
It is Science-Fiction, Adventure, and Mystery where another world seems oddly both alternative and familiar at the same time.
This is real authentic mind-bending sci-fi, it's not just a setting.
On a scale of 1-10, 10 being soft Science Fiction and 1 being hard Science Fiction, it is probably a 6.
- The story has many scientific principles built into it, and some real events are the basis for various elements. However, for the sake of the story, these are not explained in detail. Additionally, it is told in a fantastical manner.
3. How would you describe this script in two words?
Mind-blowing Dreamscape
4. What movie have you seen the most times in your life?
Bladerunner
5. How long have you been working on this screenplay?
Off and on for the past three years, about one year was spent on iterations.
6. How many stories have you written?
This is the second story I have completed, but I have several others in the works.
7. What motivated you to write this screenplay?
The story. It is a really good and authentic Science Fiction story, and I feel it would create a very edgy, exciting, mind-expanding, and visual movie.
8. What obstacles did you face to finish this screenplay?
- As a writer, I spent months learning the nuances of screenplay writing.
- Often, when I paid for reviews, the reviewer seemed to have poor comprehension skills, and I did not get constructive criticism.
9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
Technology, all forms of technology but mostly computer technology
10. What influenced you to enter the festival? What were your feelings on the initial feedback you received?
Initially, it seemed possibly another case of poor comprehension, but after closer review, I found some minor details that the reviewer brought to light, allowing me to make the particular elements in question clearer to the reader/audience. Thus, in the end, I was very happy with the feedback since it was constructive.
11. Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?
This is a mind-bending, mind-expanding, modern, science fiction adventure that has all the elements to make a great movie intertwined with concepts our society is currently exploring like quantum mechanics and planets around other stars. The scenes and characters present many twists and turns.
