JOHN, 14min., New Zealand, Fantasy
Directed by Yoson An
Trapped in the limbo of purgatory, John's only path to freedom is a choice between a curtain and a kite. A concert pianist (John) finds himself in a deserted, barren land, in between a red kite and a floating curtain.
Through my own personal journeys of self growth, I've come to realize a lot of our behaviors as individuals are conditioned from our childhood. Sometimes unconsciously inflicting pain on ourselves and others around us. "JOHN" symbolizes the idea of the generational trauma we all go through as humans. The way to break free of this invisible prison is by forgiving and connecting with our own inner child (as symbolized by the red kite).
