HORROR Festival Poetry: I Visit Your Grave, by Lawrence Bergman (interview)

Get to know the poet:
1) What is the theme of your poem? How we live and treat others, can serve us in life and in our deaths as well.
2) What motivated you to write this poem? I saw the contest online and I love horror, Halloween and writing. Typically, I don't write poetry, as I tend to write scripts and plays. However, I wanted the challenge of writing a horror poem as I've always loved Poe's The Raven.
3) How long have you been writing poetry? I don't write much poetry but probably off and on for the past ten years.
4) If you could have dinner with one person (dead or alive), who would
that be? My grandfather (my mother's father), he passed when I was very young. Supposedly, he ran away from an Indian reservation when he was young and never spoke about his past. I've always wanted to know more about his life.
5) What influenced you to submit to have your poetry performed by a
professional actor? Since I was a little boy, I've always loved the spoken word. I would listen to old radio shows and truly appreciated "the theater of the mind." I loved radio so much that I pursued it as a career. Hearing your words read professionally is a magical feeling.
6) Do you write other works? scripts? Short Stories? Etc..? I have written multiple television scripts pilots and stage plays.
7) What is your passion in life? It truly is writing. Nothing makes me feel like I'm being more true to myself than writing. Whether it's a screenplay, television pilot, stage play or even a poem, writing remains my deepest passion. Also, being a father to my two daughters.
