Get to know the filmmaker:

What motivated you to make this film?

I always wanted to make a film like this. I first loved the idea of an extremely flawed protagonist who just can't seem to do the right thing.

From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?

From writing the first scene to the finished edit, it took me a full year. I actually started writing the first scene on my downtown when I was PA on a bunch of sets.

How would you describe your film in two words!?

Formational & heartening.

What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?

Time. We shot the entire film over the span of four days (a long weekend). So, we were really fighting the clock. But we stayed organized because of my incredible cast and crew.

What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?

I was very excited. The only people who have seen this film in my life are my friends and family, so it was great to see unbiased audience members give their honest feedback.

When did you realize that you wanted to make films?

I learned that I wanted to make films during the pandemic. I originally wanted to be a playwright. I mean, I still have goals of doing that. But once the pandemic happened, it kind of shifted my focus (as I'm sure it did for most people). I can't say for certain that one film brought me into this, but what I do know is I just love writing. Having the ability to get lost in a world and escape is my favorite thing. I really am passionate about it.

What film have you seen the most in your life?

I can't quantify which movie I've seen more, but I've watched "Bridesmaids" and "The Wolf of Wall Street" hundreds of times.

What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?

I think networking opportunities are so beneficial. Having the opportunities to meet filmmakers, sound designers, editors, etc is such a valuable experience.

You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?

I love FilmFreeway. It's very easy to operate and it does a good job at promoting festivals.

11. What is next for you? A new film?

Absolutely, I want to keep making films! I am working on a short with Alexa Roosevelt, one of the cast members in "Goodbye, Sam", so I'm very excited about getting that started.
