This interview was a discussion between WILDsound's Matthew Toffolo and filmmaker Amir Shan about his debut feature film "Let's Make It a Blockbuster Night," which Amir described as an arthouse and avant-garde experimental thriller that took over three years to complete. Amir explained how the film originated as a planned Super Bowl commercial for a beer company that evolved into a narrative story during COVID-19 lockdown in Florida, with much of the content being improvised and shot intuitively. The film features a diverse cast including actors from various backgrounds, though many of them haven't seen the final product yet, and contains elements like male nudity and German dialogue intended to provoke discussion about entertainment and originality in cinema. Amir, who is SAG-AFTRA certified and has worked on productions like FBI, Law and Order, and films starring Cameron Diaz and Matt Damon, expressed hopes to secure distribution for the film and launch his production company Persian Pyre Films, while also pursuing interests in music and documentary financing.
