A Horror Feature Film
LOGLINE: A noblewoman who lived in the Middle Ages during the
Spanish Inquisition breaks the curse of spending eternity bound
to an instrument of torture.
SUMMARY: The ghost of Joanna (1479-1555), daughter of King
Ferdinand of Aragon (1452-1516) and Isabella of Castile (1451-
1504, revolted against the Inquisition founded by her parents,
haunts a Romanian CITADEL believing she was cursed to be bound
forever to the instrument of torture called the Iron Maiden. A
visitor to Făgăraş CITADEL, Elena Stanca, is destined to help
Joanna’s soul. Elena is stuck in the museum where a replica of
the mechanism supposed to belong to the Spanish Inquisition
(1478-1834) is exhibited. The plot in the Middle Ages recounts
in lavish detail the punishments and tortures heretics were
subjected to as victims of an abusive religious system.
Children, women, men and old people were burned at the stake,
killed on torture wheels, prostitutes were placed on chairs
covered with nails. The supposed curse is broken due to Elena's
compassion for Joanna. Helped by Elena and Ana, a woman in whom
a fragment of Joanna’s soul was embodied, Joanna understands she
was manipulated for political reasons into believing that she
is mentally unstable. Forgiving her parents, she frees the souls
of those who died during the Spanish Inquisition.
