Get to know the filmmaker:

1. What motivated you to make this film?

Spoon was an incredible script to read. Ed and I had been looking to collaborate again before we had officially teamed up, and it just all came together. I wanted to do fun, and strange in a way people hadn't seen before

2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?

When I got my hands on the script it was not long. The process from script to final product is pretty streamlined for us. Once we get a project we like, it usually only takes a few months before the film is ready to be seen.

3. How would you describe your film in two words!?

Strange fun

4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?

We pride ourselves on trying to make things as cinematic as possible. The scene where all the spoons fall when he opens the cabinet was much trickier than we had expected. When you don't have the ability to make your own sets you often come across logistic issues with certain shots. We spent a few hours just rigging that shot to make it look as effective as possible.

5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?

I find us funny but I never expect others to. It will always be weird to me that people laugh at what we make because truly we just make it for us.

6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?

In the most sappy way possible, since I was a little kid. I loved holding the room's attention and telling a story that made people feel something intensely. I was always impressed by good storytellers, they always seemed like the coolest person in the room.

7. What film have you seen the most in your life?

Probably Shape of Water. When I was like five, I used to have a goldfish and I thought we had some sort of connection. Like it understood me. Also the cinematography of the movie is so good.

8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?

I think the biggest miss for most festivals is connecting the filmmakers with their audience and helping nurture that relationship. When you're a young filmmaker trying to build an audience that can be a game changer

11. What is next for you? A new film?

A lot is next for us, we just released a horror short, we have another fun comedy coming as well and some feature stuff. It's going to be a very intense year or so for us so stay tuned!!!
