POEM:
Return to the Den
I’m sorry I came at you like a wolf,
spit flying from my curled back lips,
teeth bared as I spat my grievances
in your direction.
Whether real or perceived,
I see now,
these obstacles I faced,
they were mine to contend with.
After all, how can a wolf
blame the sheep for fleeing?
I’ll do better next time.
I’ll be better next time.
I’ll take your cloak and put it on.
I’ll bleat in your midst,
and cause your no concern
as I enter your flock.
I’ll temper my rage
and cover your eyes with your wool.
And then, I’ll leave
just as swiftly as I came.
Tell the pack
I’ll be home soon,
and I’m bringing
a feast.
