POEM:
Rapids
By Alison Angel Javens
The rapids of life
A craggily creek
A rambling river
Rolling us along
Swiftly
Or snail paced
Or not at all
The rapids of life
Water
turns and churns
Like my insides which
Burn and yearn
Oh when will I learn to
Glide not be dragged through rapids
Over stones and boulders
My body feels the force
The rhythmic rumble
My heart twists and turns
Beating breathing
All for naught
its not
Across two bridges I cross to find peace
A gift of serenity to marvel
The rapids of life
one we live
or one we don’t
Only the reservoir shall know
