The idea is that as we grow older, we develop ways of coping with stress and negative emotions that mimic the comforting sensation of being held or nurtured. The film presents these coping mechanisms, such as smoking, drinking, sex, and self-comfort. It is an observational work on how we all "pacify" ourselves.
