Director Statement
We were inspired for OH MY NIGHT by the closure of the nightlife as a result of the COVID pandemic. The necessity of nightlife opening doors to new experiences of the world and of ourselves.
We miss the unexpected, the encounters with strangers, the beat vibrating through your body, dancing until your kneecaps hurt, the moment you wake up and try to remember all the adventures you've been on, knowing that much of it is terribly embarrassing. A person needs stimuli and it is the special experiences that make life worth living.
The corona crisis has raised the question in all of us 'What is actually vital?' The definition of vital is literally: 'full of life and energy'. Staying inside to protect ourselves and each other from death gnaws at our life energy. In fact, we have stopped living to avoid dying. At least, this is how many young people have experienced it.
OH MY NIGHT is an ode to the nightlife.
