MAD GIRLS LOVE SONG, 12min., Drama, USA
Directed by Athena Stuebe
Being a teenager is awkward. Super awkward. Having an older sister to mess up first makes it easier. But, when your sibling leaves you for college, you’re blind sighted by reality. Lydia, a ballerina who’s tied her bun a little too tight, has done her best to have ultimate control over everything around her thus far. In one drive, her ways of life are challenged by Bea, her 19 year-old sister. On their drive home from getting take-out, the girls realize they don’t click they way they used to. Bea is a stranger to Lydia.
Director Statement
Growing up, I’ve been taught to write what I know. The most consistent thing in my life has been my sister. Even through the years we didn’t speak and had nothing in common, she was there, sleeping top bunk. I want to tell a story of growing up as a young girl, and how are siblings shape us.
