1. What motivated you to make this film?
I wanted to tell a story about what it means to be a "good" daughter and how that shapes the choices we make in life. My love for history and fashion allowed me to explore how this affects women throughout time.
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?
The idea for this film started during a trip to Anaheim California 2021 and we finished post production June of 2023!
3. How would you describe your film in two words!?
Heartfelt and immersive.
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?
Locations! On a student budget finding the perfect places to help bring this world to life was a challenge. We worked with wonderful spaces that allowed us to set up all our gear, actors, and crew and are so grateful to them!
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?
Surprised at the depth to which people could relate or ascertain the meaning that was in the subtext. When you make something you know you understand it, but there is always that fear and faith you have when you hand it to someone else to interpret and view.
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?
When I realized that movies, television, and animation were like time capsules that bottled up the magic of feeling great despair, or happiness and wonder. I found I could revisit it and find I resonated with a new part each time.
7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
The Barbie classics for sure! From the Nutcracker to Island Princess I loved the messages of girlhood, friendship, love, and finding the courage in yourself to do what is right.
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?
We loved this process. Networking as a young filmmaker can be difficult, so connecting with other artists would be a great help! Maybe even creating a space where people can meet virtually and connect.
9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?
It has been a seamless process.
10. What is your favorite meal?
Avgolemono Soup. I could eat it on a 100 degree day. And I do, being from Miami Florida!
11. What is next for you? A new film?
My next film is actually in pre-production, an animated short tentatively titled "Within the Crystal Hills". My creative partner, Griffin "The" Hansen, and I co-wrote the film and I am producing while he directs! It is another love story that explores the effect that self doubt has on a relationship. Other than that I am working on a few TV pilots that I hope to share soon!
