Get to know the screenwriter:
1. What is your screenplay about?
Losing love and finding yourself as you move on to the "new best thing."
2. What genres does your screenplay fall under?
Comedy, dramedy, romance
3. Why should this screenplay be made into a movie?
I also write plays for theater but this story needed a bigger canvas. And I think there's something universal about embracing our flaws as we rail against them, especially in the arena of love.
4. How would you describe this script in two words?
Love considered
5. What movie have you seen the most times in your life?
Toss up between "Moonstruck" and "The Philadelphia Story."
6. How long have you been working on this screenplay?
I wrote it over the course of about a year.
7. How many stories have you written?
I have 10+ plays and now four screenplays under my writing belt.
8. What is your favorite song? (Or, what song have you listened to the most times in your life?)
I can't have a "favorite" song, it so depends on the day. That said, today I would go with Van Morrison's "Someone Like You," in a tie with Patti Page singing "You Belong to Me."
9. What obstacles did you face to finish this screenplay?
At times it was a little too close to home, as it was written when my own marriage was unraveling.
10. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?
People. Community. Dogs, of course. Living each day like you mean it. (Stole that from some else's movie but it fits.)
11. You entered your screenplay via FilmFreeway. What has been your experiences working with the submission platform site?
It's been useful and easy. And times like this, successful.
12. What influenced you to enter the festival? What were your feelings on the initial feedback you received?
I had never entered this screenplay into a comedy festival. Suddenly it seemed like a good idea. The feedback I received was stellar: extensive, constructive and, I thought, highly insightful. I do believe it's going to help me hone this script. Very appreciative for the effort and the support!
