Inside an old cottage, a middle-aged man, K, is sitting at his desk. As K struggles to create on his working desk, he looks over at his pictures of yesteryears.
Just at that moment, he hears creaking floorboards from the floor above. As K gets up, following the sound, somebody swifts through the bushes outside. K, now nervous, picks up his handgun and stealthily climbs up the stairs.
On the floor above is an Old Man, waiting for K, with a shotgun in his hand. Meanwhile, the Young Man outside gets in the house. What follows is a cat and mouse chase resulting in one of them dying brutally. This happens Every-day.
Interview with director Navjvot Singh
1. What motivated you to make this film?
I wrote the script when I was about to hit the age of 30, and I was really missing my early 20s.
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?
I wrote the first draft in 2019, but really started the pre-production during the pandemic, so all in all, it took 10-11 months from start to finish.
3. How would you describe your film in two words!?
Existential crisis.
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?
Finances and then pandemic restrictions.
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?
Honestly, it felt like all the issues and problems we faced were worth it.
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?
When I was about 19 years old.
7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
Taxi Driver and Rocky.
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?
Maybe if you again move back to in-person festivals as the communal experience of a movie viewing is out of this world.
9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?
Honestly, it is a blessing to the independent and new filmmakers who don't have an entire team planning the festival strategy.
10. What is your favorite meal?
Biryani and Beer.
11. What is next for you? A new film?
Currently, I am working on a couple of feature scripts, but I will definitely make a few more shorts before jumping into the feature realm.
