BOSS OF THE TOSS, 29min., USA
Directed by Chris Harboldt
While balancing a relationship with his girlfriend, a down and out cornhole player must compete in a high stakes, underground tournament to help his grammy pay off a bookie.
Get to know the filmmaker:
1. What motivated you to make this film?
I'm a big fan of slapstick sports comedies and wanted to pay homage to the genre.
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you
to make this film?
The idea for the movie percolated in my head for years. I outlined for quite some time, but when I became serious about writing and making it, I would say that it took around six months.
3. How would you describe your film in two words!?
Fun entertainment.
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?
Rain! It poured for most of the second day of shooting. It made things tough, but it added a gritty ambience to the training scenes.
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking
about your film in the feedback video?
The feedback video is fantastic! Experiencing someone breaking down our movie in such a positive, intelligent and unique way was both enlightening and exciting!
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?
I've always had a fascination with films at an early age. While participating in a Screenwriting Meetup group in 2017, I helped form a team for the 48 Hr. Film Project and have been hooked ever since.
7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
I would have to say The Shining. The story, cinematography, soundtrack and Jack Nicholson's performance are all captivating!
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other
festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking
career?
A suggestion would be to help facilitate distribution for worthy projects.
9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your
experiences been working on the festival platform site?
FilmFreeway is very simple and convenient to use.
10. What is your favorite meal?
Tough question, but I'll have to go with fettuccini alfredo with shrimp.
11. What is next for you? A new film?
I'm currently working on condensing my feature length comedy script into a proof-of-concept film.
