We embark on a journey from cracking unknown signals to tracking down evidence of extraterrestrial communication in government documents. He finds this story goes back to our ancient origins, and what he uncovers about humanity is more than just the story of a satellite. It's a signal that could rewrite the future of our species.
Director Statement
I made this film because I was always fascinated with the story of the mysterious Black Knight Satellite. Years later when I heard how passionate Billy Carson was about the topic and his views on where he believed it originated from, I thought this would be an opportunity to open up this investigation in a new way. There are many twists and turns throughout the film, suggesting there is more than one outcome. I thoroughly enjoyed the journey of working with Billy and gaining his knowledge.
Get to know the filmmaker:
1. What motivated you to make this film?
I have always been fascinated with the Black Knight Satellite story for years. I find it odd and intriguing that it is not a UFO hovering over your house, it is a satellite orbiting on earth of unknown origin. When Billy approached me about doing a documentary, I was so excited to work with him.
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?
It took us seven months - Billy went and did some rogue interviews on his own beforehand, but they weren't up to par with the quality I wanted for the film. We reshot some interviews and others were turned into skype interviews.
3. How would you describe your film in two words!?
Mind Opening
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?
The biggest obstacle was working with previous low grade footage and previous interviews without a clear direction.
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?
I totally agreed. I feel like as a filmmaker sometimes you don't hear the best feedback. You often hear about negative things you did or that your choices were sub par. It is nice to hear that the choices I made were received well by the critics.
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?
I realized I wanted to make films when I was five years old. I think I told my dad when I was 8 I was going to be on the cover of Vogue and Time magazine. He asked why and I said because I want to say important things in the world that make change and wear pretty dresses. HAHA hey if everyone thought like an 8 year old where would we be in the world...
7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
Gladiator, Inception, American Beauty and Apocalypse now.
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?
It would be great to receive awards at an in person event.
9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?
It's been easy and fun and built for film making.
10. What is your favorite meal?
Sushi
11. What is next for you? A new film?
I have a new film coming out that proves that the matrix exists through ancient codes. It is called Code 12. I hope you can make this part of your film festival.
