Director Statement
a place we go, together is a film from Collective IDentity, a multidisciplinary project bringing visibility to the artistry of dancers with Parkinson’s through photography and film, visual artwork, live improvised dance, and music. Artistic director Danielle Jones and music and sound director Jaka Škapin created this work through a series of visits to the homes of dancers with Parkinson’s across the country, during the summer of 2021. The film looks at core themes of compassion, care, and relationship, and was devised using a co-creative approach in which all dancers took part in a live, improvised dance process within their home, drawing on stories and experiences from their lives as inspiration. The resulting film is an honest, intimate, and jubilant look at life, the body, and the domestic space.
