MOVING VIOLATION, 4min., USA, Comedy
Directed by Eric Bergemann
A traffic stop triggers relationship issues.
Get to know the filmmaker:
1. What motivated you to make this film?
My brother was visiting and he reminded me about a time we got pulled over and I turned to him and said "I think I'm getting arrested." In that case, it was for outstanding parking tickets, but I thought it would be a fun set up for a short.
2. From the idea to the finished product, how long did it take for you to make this film?
Maybe a month? I'd been doing a bunch of corporate/commercial work so I really wanted to just go out and make something fun that I could turn around quickly.
3. How would you describe your film in two words!?
Humorously weird? Weirdly humorous?
4. What was the biggest obstacle you faced in completing this film?
The heat! We went out to the desert and it was about 100 degrees. Also, the wind-- at the end of the day a dust devil blew our tents away like tumbleweeds.
5. What were your initial reactions when watching the audience talking about your film in the feedback video?
It was really gratifying to hear that people enjoyed it.
6. When did you realize that you wanted to make films?
I'd been interested ever since I was a kid.
7. What film have you seen the most in your life?
Probably "Election" by Alexander Payne. A teen comedy that's also a sophisticated political satire, with a Rashomon-inspired structure. Brilliant!
8. What other elements of the festival experience can we and other festivals implement to satisfy you and help you further your filmmaking career?
Would love to see a physical fest with personal interaction.
9. You submitted to the festival via FilmFreeway. How has your experiences been working on the festival platform site?
Super user friendly and easy to understand.
10. What is your favorite meal?
My favorite meal is one where I tasted the best version of something that I've ever had. Example: I went to a restaurant in Estonia that boasted they had the best brown bread I would ever taste in my life. Now I'm not a huge fan of brown bread, and that's a bold claim, but dammit, they backed it up. That brown bread was transcendent.
11. What is next for you? A new film?
Working on a comedy feature. I have cast and distribution lined up-- now if only I could lock down that final bit of financing...
