Director Statement
The Road Between Us began as more than just a story about running. It became a journey about people — about what brings us together when we move forward side by side. Filming fifteen runners across 200 kilometers of Tasmanian roads, I witnessed moments of exhaustion, laughter, and quiet reflection that revealed something deeper than sport: a sense of belonging and brotherhood.
It was very challenging to film on the highway, especially while working as both the director and cinematographer. Using only a 35mm fixed lens and limited gear, I had to adapt constantly — but those constraints helped me capture something raw and real. Every frame holds an honesty that comes from being right there in the moment.
This film is a tribute to resilience — to those who keep moving even when the road gets hard, and to the invisible connections that form when we share the same path. Through their footsteps, I wanted to show that the road between us is not what separates — it’s what unites.
