His first script was 1965’s What’s New Pussycat?, which also whetted his appetite for acting and directing.
Allen’s unofficial directorial debut was 1966’s What’s Up, Tiger Lily?, (which he dubbed from the Japanese); his first legitimate film at the helm was 1969’s Take the Money and Run. Woody has consistently made films almost annually ever since, many considered classics, such as Bananas (1971), Annie Hall (’77) and Manhattan (’79). Allen has been nominated for 21 Oscars, and won three.
