Overview:

The movie follows the journey of a gorgeous she-male, from her troubled childhood in a small town close to the Amazon, to her body hormonal transformation process and her initiation in the prostitution underworld of Rio de Janeiro. The short is based on the first three chapters of the book by the title written by the director Marcelo Pedreira who spent over a year interviewing she males in the streets of Rio de Janeiro.

The movie shows how the Brazilian she-males are excluded from the job market due to discrimination and find prostitution to be the only way for making a living. Brazil is the main exporter of she-males to the rich European prostitution market.

Prior to his debut as a director of the short film THE INEVITABLE STORY OF LETICIA DINIZ, based on his book which he wrote in 2007 and was published by Nova Fronteira - Marcelo developed a solid career in theater as a playwright and director, working with major Brazilian actors such as Wagner Moura, protagonist of Elite Squad, directed by Jose Padilha. Pedreira also wrote the script for The Incurable Ones, directed by Gustavo Acioli, which participated in several festivals around the world.
