TEARS FOR MY MOTHER, by Sheela S. Langeberg.

There were not many words
But many questions
And yes, too many tears
After four interrupted carriages
Eight baby boys not celebrated
I called home to mama

With a ticket in hand
I'd let her understand the events I had planned.
First, mama's greeting with a full winter wardrobe
Then her meeting with her longed-for grandchildren
In their far away land called Sweden.
There were not many words
But many questions
And yes, too many tears.

You see,
Mama cried even when dancing the news to
Every man
Every woman
Every child
Animal and plant
Mama cried.

Mama cried as she packed her farm
Crop, house, work and businesses
Mama cried.

Mama cried as she packed her joy
And special treats for special me
And her magical twin grandchildren
In this far away land called Sweden
Mama cried.
Mama cried a road stretching far to that first time ever on the plane
Mama cried.

There were not many words
But many questions
And yes, too many tears
Because it won't be so

Mama would not greet her full winter wardrobe
Mama would not deliver her special treats to her special me
And her long-longed for grandchildren
In their far away land called Sweden
There were not many words
But many questions
And yes, too many tears
Because it won't be so
Today,
Tears is my shadow
Tears is my strength
Tears is my shoulder to lean on
Tears is my courage
Everyday.
