Neill Blomkamp: Born in Johannesburg in 1979, in his teens Blomkamp attended the Vancouver Film School. His work in visual effects led to promotional films for the game “Halo”, garnering recognition for him to direct the Halo feature planned with Peter Jackson. When the project fell through Jackson instead produced Neill’s 2009 debut District 9, (an adaptation of a Blomkamp short). District 9 was a critical and popular hit, and bodes well for Blomkamp’s Hollywood future. |
