11 QUESTIONS with Moneesa Credle - TV Screenplay Finalist

1. What is your screenplay about?

My spec script is from Mad Men Season four which follows Don Draper as he is forced to leave someone else in charge of creative as the agency tries to win a new account while he faces a family crisis.

2. Why should your script be made into a film?

Although Mad Men season four is over, my episode should fit smoothly into the arc of the season.

3. How long have you been writing screenplays?

Two years.

4. What film have you seen the most in your life?

The King's Speech and Godfather II (tie).

5. What artists in the film industry would you love to work with?

As a sneak peek to my list, I would say: Aaron Sorkin; Shonda Rhimes; Devon Franklin; Tom Hooper; Matt Weiner; Julian Fellowes; Meryl Streep; Larry David; Viola Davis; Harvey Weinstein; and, many others.

6. How many screenplays have you written?

Two so far with others in various stages of development.

7. Ideally, where would you like to be in 5 years?

Writing and hopefully having something produced.

8. Describe your process; do you have a set routine, method for writing?

For spec TV scripts, I watch all of the previous episodes and read scripts to understand characters. When writing original material, I establish the premise, the characters, and their "world". I often listen to music while I write. I use outlines and do everything I can to create solid characters.

9. Apart from writing, what else are you passionate about?

Music. I have played drums/percussion and sang since I was a child.

10. What influenced you to enter the WILDsound Script Contest?

I was fortunate to meet an accomplished filmmaker at TIFF who recommended the contest as an excellent way to receive professional feedback on my writing.

11. Any advice or tips you'd like to pass on to other writers?

Write as much as possible, read as much as possible, watch films/TV/plays, and live life. The next idea may come from anywhere.
