MIKE KRISHNATREYAMIKE KRISHNATREYA Born on January 16th 1980 in Zurich, Switzerland. Filmmaker of SILENZIO IN VALLE (SILENT VALLEY) Synopsis Valeria’s father is dead. For the first time after many years away Valeria travels back to her home village to attend her father’s funeral. Neither in the church nor at the funeral meal does she find comfort. She feels uneasy around the villagers. Her mother wraps herself in silent sorrow and leaves Valeria with doubts about her father having died a natural death. Valeria wants to go back to her studies as soon as possible but unexpected powers prevent her from returning to the city. Valeria has to face her destiny. Director’s statement The Swiss Alpine area is not only the living place of one and a half million people, but also a central element of Switzerland and a source of inspiration for stories about identity and about the feelings of one’s own native country. „Silenzio in valle“ is the story of many people, who left their mountain village and feel increasingly estranged. My purpose is to show a topical and authentic image of the contemporary Swiss cultural history.
