Farzin Farzaneh is an Iranian-born artist living and working in Montreal. He has practiced painting, drawing, filmmaking and photography for most of his life and is constantly exploring different art forms and media. His films and artwork have beenscreened and exhibited widely in Canada and abroad. He has taught art and filmmaking to students from kindergarten to university levels and continues to explore the everexpanding panoply of techniques and styles of filmmaking. His films tend to have asensual and moody visual component that bear witness to his strong sense of aesthetics.
Drat, an 11-minute animated film is Farzin's latest production. It won the award for Best Animation at the 2010 Queens World Film Festival in New York. His cinematography and sound editing in Anna Sikorski's recent film, Missing, have won praise from manyquarters.
Farzin Farzaneh is co-founder of Lachrymose Films, a Montreal-based production company devoted to auteur cinema.
