Born in England in 1956, after schooling Boyle entered the arts profession as a director in theatre, followed by producing for television.
His feature film directorial debut was Shallow Grave in 1995, the most financially successful British film of that year. Boyle followed with the cult hit Trainspotting, which is unofficially credited with revitalizing British film.
Danny then moved to Hollywood. His greatest success to date is Slumdog Millionaire, which won the Best Film Oscar for 2008.
