DADDY HOME TODAY, Sandra Kay Creamer.

One warm San Diego day;
They watch as his ship sails away;
And her two toddlers would say;
"Daddy gone away, daddy gone away",
For they don't understand on this day;
Why daddy must sail away.

Two long months daddy has been away;
And as she rises on this day;
Her two toddlers with joy and glee say;
"Daddy home today, daddy home today?"
But sadly she will say;
"Not today, not today, but another day".

Four long months daddy has been away;
And as they go to the commissary on this day;
Her two toddlers with joy and glee say;
"Get daddy today, get daddy today?';
And sadly she will say;
"Not today, not today, but on another day".

Six long months daddy has been away;
And as she rises on this day;
Her two toddlers with joy and glee say;
"Daddy home today, daddy home today?";
And to their surprise on this day;
She will rejoice fully say, "Yes daddy home today;
yes daddy home today".

Now at war on this day;
They watch as his ship sails away;
And her two toddlers confused say;
"Daddy gone away, daddy gone away.";
For they don't understand on this day;
The seriousness in which daddy sails away;

And now as she rises every day;
She listens to the news as her toddlers say;
" Daddy home today, daddy home today?';
But this time she will only say;
"We must hope and pray, hope and pray;
That daddy will be home again some day."
