Cameron Crowe: Born in California in 1957, Crowe famously started out as an editor at Rolling Stone magazine, from which he forayed into screenwriting.
His first feature screenplay was 1982’s Fast Times at Ridgemont High, which was the beginning of Crowe’s strong voice for idealistic yet disaffected youth. Writing his own material, his directorial debut was Say Anything (’89).
Cameron’s craft since matured into adult terrain such as Jerry Maguire, (nominated for 1996 Best Picture and Writing Oscars), and Almost Famous, for which Crowe won the 2000 Best Screenplay Oscar.
