Barry Levinson: Born in Maryland in 1942, Levinson’s foray into show business began with acting and writing comedy. Achieving great success in this field (winning Emmies for The Carol Burnett Show), Levinson was courted as a writer for film.
Writing 1982’s Diner, he was given directorial reigns on the project; the success of which then saw Barry handed prestige projects such as The Natural and Rain Man (for which he won the 1989 Best Director Oscar).
Barry continued to work proficiently on quality mainstream fare such as Bugsy and Wag the Dog, although his 2000s work has garnered less popular notice to date.
